When we started our vocational training centre in Zambia for unemployed youth, over 70% said they had lost hope and over 90% felt motivated and empowered after vocational programme which had a parallel mindset programme. Many have secured employment, and over 70% said their mental health, confidence and relationships had improved.

It addresses the connections between inner and outer development (we are an international development organsiation). It also addresses the connections between poverty and opportunity. The secret sauce is mindset and empowerment of the heart- not just the head!

I think the connection between Pestalozzi, Sweden and the holistic education work of Pestalozzi International will make for an exciting feast of interconnectivity and heart- empowerment. I very much hope I can share a refined presentation on this!

We combine addressing poverty (SDG1 and 2) through access to quality education (SDG4) that is steeped in wellbeing (SDG3) so that young people can become positive role models, achieve sustainable livelihoods (SDG 8) and contribute to their communities. This connects to many of the SDGs and creates a cycle of impact and leadership that is locally driven and removes mindset barriers as well as socio-economic ones to unlock altruism and lasting change.
